In appearance, Xuan clearly favours her mother: her hair is the colour of the midnight sky, highlighted with streaks the shade of the sky next the full moon. Candlelight brings out more silver in it, and it seems to shimmer with little stars under any kind of natural light. It falls in perfect, soft ringlets down her back, just short enough to slide over her shoulders with each move of her head. Wisps of bangs shade her eyes, too short to curl.
Typically, despite the difficulty involved in braiding curly hair, Xuan wears her hair in an upsidedown french braid, which puts funny kinks in the curls when she lets it out. The natural part tends to fall on the right side, and strands naturally escape to hang over her left eye. Her eyes show her mixed heritage the most: at times the silver of the moon, at times the deep blue of the sunset sky, at times the crystalline turquoise of a tropical sea or the grayblue of the cold Atlantic. There is no predictable pattern to the shifts of Xuan's eyes, not by emotion or by clothing or by season. Anger fills her eyes with black, making them seeming pupilless and depthless.
Height-wise, Xuan stands six feet shoeless. She has a pointed face with stubborn and strong chin, almond-shaped eyes, and tanned olivine skin. She is distinctly and clearly feminine, without the flaunting of her femaleness that makes some men uneasy and others consider women easy prey. Vocally, Xuan is unremarkable, a smooth clear alto voice. In dress, also, there is little to mark her out from any other woman.
