Steve discovers Roll Rolling one night while working through the list of music recommendations Sam and Natasha had given him. \u00a0At first he thinks it\u2019s a random ad popping up in the middle of the music video. Then he reads the comments. Nearly every one involves swearing and the term \u2018Rick Roll\u2019d.\u2019 Google, as always, is unbelievably helpful and Steve laughs out loud to himself upon reading the Wiki page. \u00a0<\/p>\n

Sam is first.<\/p>\n

Steve: <\/strong>\u00a0Otis Redding is terrific – thanks for the recommendation. Found one you might like. Let me know what you think.<\/em><\/p>\n

He pastes the link into the text before hitting send. He smirks and waits.<\/p>\n

Sam: \u00a0<\/strong>Steve Rogers, you Rick Rollin\u2019 sonofabitch!\u00a0<\/em>Dammit, man. Who knew Captain America was such a troll?<\/em><\/p>\n

Steve\u2019s sharp bark of laughter echoes off the walls.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Steve:<\/strong>\u00a0On your left<\/em><\/p>\n

Sam: <\/strong>\u00a0You\u2019re an asshole<\/em><\/p>\n

Sam: <\/strong>\u00a0Fifty bucks says you can\u2019t get everyone else<\/em><\/p>\n

Steve:<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0I won\u2019t feel bad taking your money, you know?<\/em><\/p>\n

Sam: \u00a0<\/strong>That\u2019s why you\u2019re an asshole.<\/em><\/p>\n

Steve carefully pastes the link in and presses send without a moment of regret. He tosses his phone on the counter and opens the fridge. Halfway through making a pile of sandwiches his phone vibrates on the counter.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Clint: <\/strong>WTF?<\/em><\/p>\n

Clint:<\/strong> U rick rolled me.<\/em><\/p>\n

Steve:<\/strong> Sorry, pal.<\/em><\/p>\n

Clint:<\/strong> UR an asshole. >:(\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

Steve snorts and screencaps the texts.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Steve:<\/strong> one down.<\/em><\/p>\n

He attaches the picture and sends it to Sam, laughing to himself as he pulls a carton of milk from the fridge.\u00a0

Sam:<\/strong> Why am I friends with you?<\/em><\/p>\n

Steve:<\/strong> My senior citizen\u2019s discount.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Natasha doesn\u2019t reply. Steve hasn\u2019t heard anything from her in three days, so he assumes she\u2019s off somewhere on the other side of the world kicking ass and taking names.<\/p>\n

He\u2019s walking back to his place one night with a couple of large pizzas, listening to the 60s mix Sam made for him when a little blur of red and black lunges at him from the shadows. His attacker sweeps his legs out from under him and knocks him to the ground. He\u2019s prepared to spring to the defense when he sees it\u2019s Natasha. Steve\u2019s laugh is cut short when she presses a pointed heel against his throat. \u201cDammit, Nat! You made me drop my pizzas. What the hell?\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

She presses her heel a fraction closer and breathing becomes difficult.<\/p>\n

Natasha eyes him coolly with her arms crossed against her chest. \u00a0\u201dI\u2019ve had motherfucking Rick Astley in my head for three days now, you little shithead.\u201d<\/p>\n

Steve snorts and immediately regrets it.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Natasha kicks him in the ribs before offering a hand to help him off the ground.<\/p>\n

“Share your pizza and let\u2019s figure out how you\u2019re going to get Stark.”\u00a0<\/p>\n

Despite what Tony thinks, Thor has no trouble with Midgardian technology. Humor, yes, but technology no. Steve sends Thor an email, swipes his iPod off the desk and goes out for a run, listening to the 70s mix<\/a>\u00a0Sam made him.<\/p>\n

No, he really wasn\u2019t.<\/span><\/p>\n

Steve finds an acoustic version, heavy on the sitar, of Rick Astley\u2019s notorious hit and asks JARVIS to play it the next time Bruce plays his tea time music.<\/span><\/p>\n

Two days later they learn that Hulk can\u2019t sing but he can hum. \u00a0Rather soulfully, he thinks as he sends a video clip to Sam.<\/span><\/p>\n

Sam:<\/strong> You fucker, Rogers.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

Steve:<\/strong> Five down. One to go.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

Sam:<\/strong> Good luck with that one, asshole.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

Steve:<\/strong> Better have my money ready, Wilson.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n
