Notice how I used the word <em>she<\/em> and not\u00a0<em>it.<\/em>\u00a0God you\u2019re such an asshole, Peter.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;Don\u2019t,&#8221; Summer whispered. &#8220;I\u2019m not worth this, don\u2019t.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Peter just lifted an eyebrow. \u201cScott\u2019s as bad as you are when it comes to trust.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Derek walked over to the cage, looking down at Summer cowering at the back. He said, with an odd stillness, \u201cSometimes you have to do things to protect the pack.\u201d He looked at Erica. \u201cOne fox on the loose was bad enough. We need to make sure there isn\u2019t another one.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;Are you serious right now, Derek? I expect this kind of behaviour from him but you? You\u2019re supposed to have morals. Can\u2019t you see how wrong it is to keep her here? She is an innocent girl. Why did you think she might be a nogitsune anyway? What overwhelming evidence did you have to justify locking up a teenage girl?&#8221; With every question she grew increasingly irritated and her expression darkened. This was wrong and Derek had to know that.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Derek merely put on that expression that meant he didn&#8217;t like what he had to do, but he was going to do it anyway because he was so convinced he \/had\/ to do it. &#8220;It feeds off pain and chaos,&#8221; Peter interposed. &#8220;Feeds.
