If she was a nogitsune, she would\u2019ve been able to get out by now or at least be trying out some form of psychological torture on us, and I mean something worse that Peter\u2019s constant presence.” She looked over to Derek as she said that, sure that he\u2019d see her logic and be the better person. “Derek, come on. You know something about this isn\u2019t right. She\u2019s not who you think she is, she\u2019s just a girl who is terrified because two werewolves locked her in a cage.”<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Peter sighed and folded his arms. \u201cYou\u2019re too trusting, Erica. There\u2019s a reason we weren\u2019t letting you down here with it. But you seem to have disregarded that instruction.\u201d<\/p>\n

Summer swallowed hard. The dark one \u2014 Derek? \u2014 didn\u2019t seem inclined to argue, and the use of \u2018it\u2019 was a sharp reminder of how the men thought of her. She tried to catch Erica\u2019s attention, shaking her head. She didn\u2019t want the blonde girl getting hurt on her account.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

“Yeah I did. Because you\u2019re not my alpha. Neither of you are. Scott<\/em> is my alpha so why exactly did you do this without his say so? He is the only alpha in town and outranks both of you when it comes to decisions and when he find out what you\u2019ve been doing to this girl, he\u2019s going to get seriously pissed off. We need to let her go. She hasn\u2019t done anything wrong. Notice how I used the word she<\/em> and not\u00a0it.<\/em>\u00a0God you\u2019re such an asshole, Peter.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

“Don’t,” Summer whispered. “I’m not worth this, don’t.”<\/p>\n

Peter just lifted an eyebrow. “Scott’s as bad as you are when it comes to trust.”<\/p>\n

Derek walked over to the cage, looking down at Summer cowering at the back. He said, with an odd stillness, “Sometimes you have to do things to protect the pack.” He looked at Erica. “One fox on the loose was bad enough.
