The bartender raised an eyebrow at the girl as she set a box on the counter of his bar. \u201cYou\u2019re that Summer girl, right?\u201d he asked absently, and then nodded as he stepped away to find his employer. Several minutes later, he returned, \u201cVex\u2019ll be out momentarily.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

And several moments later, the Mesmer appeared, walking over to where Summer stood at the bar. He was dressed in his finest. \u201c\u2018Ello, Precious,\u201d he greeted, \u201cYa called?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The Mesmer laughed softly, hot breath brushing over Summer\u2019s throat as he nuzzled her. \u201cHmm, up to you, I\u2019m \u2018onestly just glad you\u2019re \u2018ere to begin with,\u201d he told her sincerely, smiling against her skin.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

“Such flattery,” she teased, though her voice jittered. “Keep that up and it will be spices for sure, and here I was thinking maybe we should have some cake first.” Summer lowered her voice a little. “To keep our strength up.”<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Vex laughed against her throat again, kissing her skin once more before moving away. \u201cCake sounds good,\u201d he told her, bobbing her lightly on the nose, \u201cand then I\u2019m sure<\/em> we\u2019ll find something else to do with our time.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Slowly, pausing to nip at his nose back, she untangled herself from their cosy sprawl. “Where did you even put the cake? I didn’t see.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
