The bartender raised an eyebrow at the girl as she set a box on the counter of his bar. \u201cYou\u2019re that Summer girl, right?\u201d he asked absently, and then nodded as he stepped away to find his employer. Several minutes later, he returned, \u201cVex\u2019ll be out momentarily.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

And several moments later, the Mesmer appeared, walking over to where Summer stood at the bar. He was dressed in his finest. \u201c\u2018Ello, Precious,\u201d he greeted, \u201cYa called?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The Mesmer shrugged his shoulders, \u201cIt doesn\u2019t matter, really, it just gets on my nerves sometimes, Precious.\u201d \u00a0He smiled and kissed her back, hugging her close to his chest, \u201cI love you too, Summer.\u201d He paused, lips moving to ghost over her neck affectionately, \u201cAnd you\u2019d know, even if you didn\u2019t realize it as that.\u201d The control. She enjoyed it during their \u2018play time\u2019, but it was feeding nonetheless, despite her probably not considering it that.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

“Well, then,” she said, giving in to the glorious shudder that crawled up her spine, “unless you want to go knock them all silly for being so stupid, I hardly see why it matters. Eventually they\u2019ll remember I\u2019m not any more human, really, than they are.” She bared her teeth in a slash of a smile. “Even if they\u2019re remembering it from inside a column of flame.”<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Vex smiled, enjoying this side of Summer. \u201cAlright, alright, love,\u201d he agreed, kissing her neck and leaving an absent bite against the skin, \u201cM\u2019love you,\u201d he said again, kissing over the bite-mark as his arms tightened around her, protectively possessive.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

“Mmm, I know,” she murmured back, arching against him a little. “Do you want sweets now, or spice?” They could go back to simply being curled together like two lazy cats, but somehow she didn’t quite think that was going to happen.
