The bartender raised an eyebrow at the girl as she set a box on the counter of his bar. \u201cYou\u2019re that Summer girl, right?\u201d he asked absently, and then nodded as he stepped away to find his employer. Several minutes later, he returned, \u201cVex\u2019ll be out momentarily.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

And several moments later, the Mesmer appeared, walking over to where Summer stood at the bar. He was dressed in his finest. \u201c\u2018Ello, Precious,\u201d he greeted, \u201cYa called?\u201d<\/p>\n

Vex chuckled into the kiss, the sound fading out as it deepened. \u00a0A quiet sound of pleasure fell from his lips as his hands roamed over her back and sides, returning every ounce of passion that she gave. He could have spent the entire day like this, holding her in his arms, kissing away the hours. It was a kind of peaceful passion that they rarely indulged in, and he loved it.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

It was several minutes later that Summer remembered the question he hadn\u2019t really answered. Reluctantly breaking the kisses, she asked softly, \u201cComing to surprise me, huh? Did you have other plans after that?\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The Mesmer shrugged his shoulders and tugged her closer to himself, nuzzling the girl\u2019s chest and leaving a playful bite on her shoulder. He was clearly feeling affectionate, though in a different, more innocent way than usual. \u00a0\u201dNot really, love. I just wanted to see you, that\u2019s all,\u201d he told her sincerely, shrugging again.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Her acknowledging ‘hmm’ broke into a laugh. “Your people don’t really celebrate this holiday?” That thought had been why she had come to Carpe Noctem.
