We were sitting maybe five minutes and I look up see him walking in.<\/p>\n<p>I freaked out. On the inside. And stared like a freak. Benedict Cumberbatch just walked into the ice cream shop.<\/p>\n<p>Him and his friend ordered ice cream, and because people are asking he got some sort of coffee flavour I believe but not 100% sure in a waffle cone, and then proceeded to sit at the table next to us.<\/p>\n<p>Freaking out.<\/p>\n<p>Anyway I was trying to explain to the other girls I was with, one had no idea and the other had heard of him, and I was dying. I didn\u2019t want to be that annoying person, so I waited until they were finished to approach him.<\/p>\n<p>He gets up to walk out and I get up too and say \u201cExcuse me sir\u201d and he turns and looks at me and I say \u201cI don\u2019t mean to be a bother, but I\u2019m a huge fan of yours\u201d<\/p>\n<p>And he breaks out into this huge grin and kinda looks at the floor and says \u201cthank you!\u201d and I\u2019m clutching my phone and I say \u201cI\u2019m sorry, but could I get a picture with you?\u201d and he says \u201cof course!\u201d and we go outside.<\/p>\n<p>Because I\u2019m freaking out I start blabbing and I said \u201cI\u2019m sorry I\u2019m not from here I\u2019m just very excited to meet you.\u201d and he laughs and says \u201cI\u2019m not from here either!\u201d (I died).<\/p>\n<p>He asks where I\u2019m from and I say \u201cLas Cruces, New Mexico.\u201d and he stops and thinks and asks \u201cwhere again?\u201d and I say \u201cLas Cruces, New Mexico\u201d and he repeats it and nods slowly.<\/p>\n<p>He turns to his friend and asks if he would take a picture, and his friend said \u201csure no problem!\u201d Benedict comes next to me and PUTS HIS ARM AROUND ME and I put my arm around him and felt his back and I died again.<\/p>\n<p>His friend took the picture and said \u201cI think I got it!\u201d and Benedict said to me \u201cpull it up, make sure it\u2019s a good one!\u201d so I do and we all 3 look at it, me still freaking out that he\u2019s 3 inches from me, and he says \u201cit\u2019s a great one!\u201d and I died.<\/p>\n<p>He then asked why I\u2019m in New Orleans and I explained that I was here for a volunteering conference to help clean up the city. He turns and looks at me and says \u201cI\u2019ve seen thousands of you guys everywhere!\u201d he asks when I\u2019m leaving and I say \u201ctomorrow.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He starts slowly walking away as I say \u201cthank you so much!\u201d and then I just blurted out \u201cWe\u2019re all waiting!\u201d and he stops walking and laughs and says \u201cyou know I do other things! But we are going to start filming in January and I believe it\u2019ll be out next fall!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He waves, says to have a safe trip home, and walks away, and I walk back into the store, a world completely oblivious to everything that happened.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>stars-will-whisper: I met Benedict Cumberbatch today at an ice cream shop in New Orleans.
