The bartender raised an eyebrow at the girl as she set a box on the counter of his bar. \u201cYou\u2019re that Summer girl, right?\u201d he asked absently, and then nodded as he stepped away to find his employer. Several minutes later, he returned, \u201cVex\u2019ll be out momentarily.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

And several moments later, the Mesmer appeared, walking over to where Summer stood at the bar. He was dressed in his finest. \u201c\u2018Ello, Precious,\u201d he greeted, \u201cYa called?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

His smile shifted to a friendly smirk as she moved over to him, chuckling lightly. \u201cOh stop, I could never prefer \u2018em to you, Precious,\u201d he told her, and then rolled his eyes at the Brits comment. \u201cSome of \u2018em,\u201d he muttered, \u201cBut seriously, Summer, I\u2019d never<\/em>.\u201d He reached out to grab her wrist so that she wasn\u2019t knocking him on the head anymore, and then pressed a kiss to the back of her hand.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Amused, she let him, and then frowned more thoughtfully. \u201cWhat are you all dressed up for then? Are there \/Fae\/ hookers?\u201d It wasn\u2019t so much a condemnation as curiosity.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The Mesmer sighed at her words, trying to wave away her worries, \u201cI was \u2018oping to surprise you, actually, but you got \u2018ere before I \u2018ad a chance to leave for your apartment.\u201d \u00a0He paused at her question, blinking, \u201cWell, there are<\/em>, but..\u201d He shrugged, not sure what else to say to that<\/em>.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

“Aren’t you sweet!” she laughed. “You really are going to ruin your reputation.” Retrieving her hand, she put them both on his shoulders so she could lean and whisper in his ear, “Or do you tell your staff terrible stories of the wicked things you do to that Summer girl so they remember what you are?”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
