unpopular PERSONAL opinion<\/big><\/strong> but I really think this\u00a0tagging triggers<\/em> thing is just overblown on Tumblr. If I tagged everything people claim are triggers I\u2019d have a wall of tags for every post. I mean now I see posts of people saying I need to tag my non-het ships, I need to tag if I have over 500 words in my post, I need to tag if I use brightly colored icons, I need to tag if I roleplay a tense scene, I need to tag if I roleplay romance because people are disturbed by PDA<\/em> \u2014 like jfc people how do you survive in the real world? It doesn\u2019t work that way off Tumblr so why are we expected to tiptoe around this site like everyone is a porcelain doll teetering on a ledge?<\/small><\/p>\n

The real world just doesn\u2019t work that way folks. Shit comes up that we don\u2019t like every single day and you have to learn to deal with it in some shape or form. Your mental and emotional health is your<\/em> responsibility. No one knows you like you and we can\u2019t be expected to shelter you from everything that might hurt your feels.<\/small><\/p>\n

I mean I get triggers like \u2018tw: suicide\u2019, \u2018tw: child abuse\u2019 because yeah\u00a0<\/span>that\u2019s a trigger<\/em>. A trigger is subject matter that causes you\u00a0<\/strong><\/span>emotional or mental distress.\u00a0<\/em>A trigger is NOT a subject matter\u00a0you don\u2019t like<\/em><\/strong>.<\/strong> I don\u2019t like the color yellow but I don\u2019t expect people to tag it. I don\u2019t like badly developed ships, but I don\u2019t make all my followers tag their ships. I don\u2019t like when people don\u2019t cut their posts, but it\u2019s not\u00a0<\/span>triggering to me<\/em>.<\/span><\/small><\/p>\n

\u00a0I can\u2019t run around my workplace telling everyone to stop doing stuff because it\u2019s triggering to me. Uh excuse me. Can you please stop eating that dried squid? It smells bad and reminds me of this kid in high school on the bus who ate it and it is offensive to me.<\/em> Oh, sorry. Can you change your outfit? You have too many bright colors on and it\u2019s triggering to me because I don\u2019t like a lot of colors.<\/em>\u00a0If you\u2019re triggered by things that easily then\u2026 well that\u2019s a personal issue\u00a0you<\/em> need to work on. I mean when I tag my triggers, it\u2019s me using common sense. Like\u00a0oh this is a sex scene, I\u2019ll tag it nsfw.\u00a0<\/em>Or\u00a0oh she\u2019s bleeding all over the ground so I\u2019ll tag it tw: blood.\u00a0<\/em>I just\u2026 my brain cannot fathom how we got to a point where it\u2019s\u00a0acceptable<\/em> to tell people what they have to tag because we\u2019re too fragile to just I dunno unfollow or block the blog. Or just\u00a0scroll past the offensive post<\/em>. Again, if you\u2019re honestly triggered by something I am happy to tag it, but stop expecting me to cater to your\u00a0dislikes<\/em>.<\/small><\/p>\n
