*looks up from the book he\u2019s reading and smiles*\u00a0Hey, Summer. What\u2019s going on?\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

As a matter of fact, you ARE that important,\u00a0<\/em>he insisted, walking over to her and draping an arm across her shoulders. He sighed slightly.\u00a0<\/span>Look, what happens or doesn\u2019t happen between you and Gwaine is nobody\u2019s business but yours and his. Nobody should be sticking his nose in where it doesn\u2019t belong.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Summer turned her face into his shoulder and burst into tears. \u201cI shouldn\u2019t care so much,\u201d she whispered. \u201cI know they\u2019re just idle gossipers, they\u2019ll talk about anyone who comes along, and it might not have been me. If anybody can know these things it\u2019s me, but I just want to be \u2014 \u201d She stopped, and gulped hard, sniffling gracelessly.<\/p>\n

“You don\u2019t love me,” she said at last. “I want to meet someone here who sees \/me\/, and loves me, everything, all the things you know, and I\u2019m such a failure.”<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

He gently rubbed her back as he listened to her, clueless about what to say at first.\u00a0Listen to me,\u00a0<\/em>he replied softly.\u00a0You are not a failure. You will find someone someday, someone who will love you with all of their heart and whom you will love with all of yours. It will be worth the wait.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

She nodded, face still hidden in his shoulder. “Patience is hard,” she muttered. “I want someone now.” Summer forced herself to pull away from Merlin, realising that if she kept leaning on him, in this kind of conversation, things would start being awkward very quickly.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
