“It wasn\u2019t \u2014 ” She flushed. “I don\u2019t know the person who said it, I just know it was someone \u2026 I think he\u2019s a knight.”<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Merlin nodded.\u00a0Alright. I may need to have a word with Arthur about his knights\u2019 lack of respect, then.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

“Merlin \u2014 please don\u2019t. Just \u2014 it doesn\u2019t matter. I\u2019m not that important, really. After all, it\u2019s not like they were wrong \u2026 ” She rubbed at her face, trying to hide the tears about to fall. “Really, they\u2019re right, I \u2014 Gwaine isn\u2019t going to \u2014 I mean, just \u2014 ” She stumbled to a stop, swallowing hard.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

As a matter of fact, you ARE that important,\u00a0<\/em>he insisted, walking over to her and draping an arm across her shoulders. He sighed slightly.\u00a0Look, what happens or doesn\u2019t happen between you and Gwaine is nobody\u2019s business but yours and his. Nobody should be sticking his nose in where it doesn\u2019t belong.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Summer turned her face into his shoulder and burst into tears. “I shouldn’t care so much,” she whispered. “I know they’re just idle gossipers, they’ll talk about anyone who comes along, and it might not have been me. If anybody can know these things it’s me, but I just want to be — ” She stopped, and gulped hard, sniffling gracelessly.<\/p>\n
