“Take the time you need. By that point, I’ll probably be back home in California, but until then, I’ll keep in mind that I can simply pick up the phone and give you a text. I don’t know why I forget about that.” Truth be told, between filming and then relaxing, along with interacting with the fans, Robert wouldn’t think about it. Not immediately, anyway.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

“Then … ” She stopped. “Will you want me there when you go home?”<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

“That’s what I was hoping.” Like he’d leave her behind completely. That wasn’t something he was likely to do. “Like you said, though. Take the time to think about it, and let me know what you think.”<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

A cacophony of thoughts rattled in Summer’s head, all of them trying to jump out of her mouth at once. She opened her mouth, closed it, opened it again.<\/span><\/p>\n

“I feel like I’ve missed something here. Stop me if I’m jumping to conclusions here, but it sounds like,” she paused, trying to still the butterflies doing mad tangos in her middle, “like you’re asking me to move in with you. Basically.” She stepped back a little, trying to look at his face. “It’s a bit … I mean, this is just the first time we’ve kissed. So, you know, the signals are very mixed. Robert?”<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Great. Had he suddenly crossed a line now? “And correct me if I’m wrong, but I’m pretty damn sure you wanted things to move along with us. Is that just too damn fast for you, or what? I mean, if it is… I can take back the offer.” Oh great, he needed to watch his mouth again.<\/p>\n

He released his hold on her, running a hand through his hair before rubbing his forehead. “Right, um, let’s just back up a moment. Okay… If it’s all moving too fast for you, I can stop. That’s more what I meant.”<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Summer started to laugh. “Look at us, falling all over ourselves to keep the other one from feeling pressured.” She put a gentle hand on his lips. “I just wanted to be sure I was hearing you right and not jumping to conclusions. I still need a little time to think about it, but provisionally, yes.”<\/p>\n
