Right now, she just wanted this intruder to go away, and the fastest way to make that happen was to find out what he wanted.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Victor eyed the man and motioned with his head to continue. \u201cThis rogue\u2019s been attacking our pack for half a year now. Normally, we can get rid of the leech pests without too many problems.\u201d The other man\u2019s eyes flicked down from Victor\u2019s gaze at the use of the derogatory name he\u2019d used. \u201cAnyhow, this rogue has cut us in half an\u2019 our only options left are to either recruit or merge into another pack.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

Victor sighed, moved out from in front of Summer, glancing at her, his own apprehension drifting off of him. He definitely wasn\u2019t happy with Summer being dragged into his profession. \u201cAlright, so what\u2019s this rogue\u2019s name?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cDaniel Jeremiah.\u201d The name, a whisper from the man\u2019s lips, stung Victor. \u201cDaniel Jeremiah? No wonder Erick sent you to me,\u201d Victor sighed and adjusted his shirt collar. \u201cAlright, you know my price yeah? I\u2019ll do it, jus\u2019 let me take my companion here home an\u2019 I\u2019ll get on the job.\u201d<\/p>\n

The other man nodded quickly, then handed Victor an envelope, which Victor put inside his jacket pocket.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

She waited until the shifter had walked away, throwing uneasy glances over his shoulder. His eyes lingered on her for a second, but she ignored that. Swinging her legs off the bench, she eyed Victor, hands braced on either side of her knees.<\/p>\n
