Folding her arms, she put her head to one side. \u201cNow that you\u2019ve tried to put me off with vagueness, suppose you give a little more detail. Either you killed whatever \u2018jumped\u2019 you, or it wasn\u2019t human.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Humans were always so damn skeptical. Why couldn\u2019t they just leave matters alone? Jack let out a sigh as he took another drink, \u201cHardly putting you off and no, I didn\u2019t kill it. My team went after it after it killed me because they knew I\u2019d be back.\u201d He let out a soft noise, almost like a mocking chuckle.<\/p>\n

\u201cReally, I don\u2019t see why it matters to you. You\u2019re a civilian, civilians never care about things that they never notice.\u201d How did she notice, anyway? Did she watch the attack or something? He would have thought he was hidden away enough to not get noticed.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

“Ah, that’s the problem. I’m not exactly a civilian.” Summer offered the other bottle, watching him. She supposed it was reasonable that he should dismiss her; neither of them knew anything about the other. As far as he was concerned, she was a really nosy tourist.<\/p>\n
