\u201cHey hey hey!\u201d Tony said waving a wooden spoon at Summer. \u201cGet away from that fish tank.\u201d He had been in the kitchen for about 20 minutes trying to figure out what to make them for dinner. \u201cIt\u2019s not that I don\u2019t trust you around breakable stuff; I just don\u2019t trust you around my fish.\u201d Tony laughed. \u201cI\u2019m still convinced you\u2019re gunna murder my little Herbie.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

\u201cI \/am\/ part cat,\u201d Summer teased, ostentatiously putting her hands behind her back. \u201cI\u2019m really not that picky, Tony. If this is a bid to impress me it\u2019s not working.\u201d She straddled a chair backward, propping her chin on the back of it and watching him generally frown at his kitchen.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

\u201cI\u2019m not gunna win this bet with macaroni and cheese,\u201d Tony said, rolling his eyes. He turned and opened the refrigerator door and looked inside for the tenth time. \u201cFuck I give up. How about I just order pizza?\u201d he said, pushing the door close with a defeated look on his face.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

She shrugged. \u201cSure, that\u2019s fine. No pineapple, though. Fruit does not belong on pizza.\u201d It was a definitive statement, and she grinned, waiting for his reaction, before climbing up out of the chair. Going over to the fish tank again, she tapped at the side.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

\u201cHey! No tapping on the glass! Are you trying to give my baby a heart attack?\u201d Tony said, this time waving his phone at her. \u201cStep away from the fish, young lady, or I\u2019ll have to put you under arrest.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

“Make me,” she taunted, not even bothering to look at him. “You couldn’t arrest me if you \/wanted\/ to.” One hand spread flat on the glass, she traced the end of one long braid against it, trying to get the fish’s attention.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
