\u201cI know you do,\u201d she murmured, combing out a tangle with her nails. \u201cDo you know what next week is?\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

\u201cI hear it\u2019s Valentine\u2019s Day,\u201d he smiled boyishly, \u201cis there anyone in particular you want to spend it with?\u201d Victor asked.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Teasingly, she said, \u201cOhhhhh, I don\u2019t know \u2026 there\u2019s some really cute guys at SHIELD I thought I might ask out \u2026 \u201d Then she stuck her tongue out.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Victor raised an eyebrow and growled at that thought. \u201cPerhaps I should stop by and have a chat with these \u2018cute boys\u2019. Y\u2019know, make sure they\u2019re not murderers or anything.\u201d Victor laughed a little, to try to mask the sudden pang of surprising possessiveness and jealousy that hit him in his gut.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Her expression softened. \u201cI heard that, Victor darling.\u201d She scraped her nails a little against his skull. \u201cShhh now, I\u2019m only teasing. Let the SHIELDies alone.\u201d Slowly she stroked his hair, ruffling her fingers up into it.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

He turned and kissed her. \u201cI know\u2026and I will,\u201d he paused a moment, \u201cso long as they behave.\u201d He turned a little more so that he could look her in the eye. \u201cWhat exactly do you do for SHIELD? I\u2019ve heard of them, some of my friendly rivals are employed by them but I don\u2019t really know what\u2019s what there.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

“I can’t say a lot,” Summer began slowly, searching his dark eyes. “I can tell you what \/I\/ do, but not much more.” She paused, eyes going distant. “Mostly, I do search and rescue. Because I’ve got such a wide range, and I can identify people’s mental signatures after having spent some time with them. So in a crisis situation, a crash, a building collapse, a hostage circumstance, I can tell who’s in trouble and sometimes what kind of trouble. Then I can use my magic to clear a safe path.
