\u201cThat\u2019s for sure. Street vendors, cabbies \u2026 it\u2019s all very different from what I\u2019m used to. So they let you have vacation, huh? And you get here, and the first thing you do is get stuck with me.\u201d Summer turned it into a joke, sticking her tongue out. \u201cI suppose we\u2019ll just have to make sure you have a good time. That is, if you want me?\u201d She wasn\u2019t even conscious of omitting the last word, too focussed on Robert\u2019s face and on maintaining the good mood. Okay, so maybe she was still starstruck.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

He laughed softly and shook his head. \u201cIf I didn\u2019t I wouldn\u2019t be here.\u201d He just watched her for a moment. \u201cI somehow find it hard to believe we could have a bad time together.\u201d He saw the island\u2019s dock. \u201cNot too far a walk now. Too bad the park closes at sundown. We get about an hour at least.\u201d He smiled as he pushed off the rail. \u201cJust as well, though, it\u2019s kind of hard to talk on rides.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Summer flushed. \u201cSez you,\u201d she retorted. \u201cI shriek with delight just fine on rides, thank you. Roller coasters first, please?\u201d She pressed forward, pulling him with her. \u201cLet\u2019s make the most of our time in the park, and then we can walk on the beach after.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

\u201cSounds like a plan.\u201d He laughed a bit and started off with her at a rather quick pace. \u201cAnd before you say anything, I’m paying for tickets. Got it?\u201d After all, this is a date, right? No one said it was, but\u2026 He could hear children screaming in the distance. Good, they were closer than he thought. \u201cYou know, I forgot how much more fun vacations are when you\u2019re with someone\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

“Excuse you? Just because you happen to be a famous person with money to burn does not mean you get to spend money on me!” She didn’t even bother to look at him to say it, towing him along, despite her shorter stature and stride. “Only dates get to spend money on me.
