Summer looks around, smiling at the sight of so many books. \u201cI don\u2019t know yet. I\u2019m sorry, have I managed to get myself into someone\u2019s private space again?\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Returning the other woman\u2019s smile gently, Kalyra shook her head. \u201cNo, you have not,\u201d she replied, \u201cI fear I am a regular haunt of this library. It reminds me of all the tomes my grandmother willed me. I fear though, this library is greatly lacking in the studies of magic.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

\u201cOh, good.\u201d Summer grinned at Kalyra. \u201cI\u2019m Summer. I do a little magic too. Maybe we can swap tips some time.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Her tawny eyes flickered when Summer mentioned she practiced a little magic as well. \u201cYou call upon the Light?\u201d she asked softly, almost disbelieving that there was another in this place who could call it up.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

\u201cOh, that\u2019s a lovely way of putting it!\u201d Summer clapped her hands together softly. \u201cA little. It \u2026 wasn\u2019t exactly my choice. I\u2019d show you, but this is a very bad place for my sort of magic, no matter how much control I have.\u201d Her mouth twitched a little at the girl\u2019s disbelief, hiding a smile.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Kalyra\u2019s smile faded to a slightly puzzled frown. \u201cTis not a way of putting it, Miss Summer,\u201d she interjected gently. \u201cThat\u2019s what it is. For my people, at least.\u201d Clearing her throat slightly, the Elven hybrid ducked her head slightly as she realized her words might be too forward. \u201cAre your magics of the druidic healing sort, or have you chosen to delve into the arcane arts?\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

\u201cA little of both, really. Some of mine is inborn, and some I\u2019ve learnt after a lot of struggle.\u201d Only now did Summer noticed the small signs of mixed blood. Well, it didn\u2019t make any difference to her. A poor empath she\u2019d be if the physical weighed more than what she could read of another\u2019s heart \u2014 and this girl was good-hearted, no doubt there.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Kalyra\u2019s smile widened considerably when the other woman revealed her magics dabbled in a bit of both. \u201cI fear my mother\u2019s natural talent for the druidic magics was lost on me,\u201d she admitted with a soft laugh that lit her tawny eyes. \u201cI can heal only the most minor of injuries, or make larger wounds slightly less severe. My true talents lie in the arcane\u2026 much to Quinn\u2019s dismay.\u201d Her face fell slightly with sudden realization. \u201cForgive me\u2026 I fear Quinn\u2019s regard no longer matters as he is yet in Mizran and I am\u2026 wherever I am.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

“Sounds hurtful, that. Do you want to talk about it?” Summer leaned comfortably against the edge of the table, twitching her braid over one shoulder to comb her fingers through the tail of it. “I’m a good listener.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
