\u201cHummm.\u201d Summer drummed the fingers of her empty hand on the table. \u201cI could do some research and try to find out what\u2019s been built since, err,\u201d she searched for a polite phrase, \u201cthe end of the war. That would be all new. I\u2019m sure everything\u2019s changed, so it might be worth it just to wander around and look at whatever catches our fancy.\u201d She twisted her face up into a couple of weird thinking poses before she went on, \u201cBronx Zoo, Botanical Gardens, Rockefeller Centre, the Metro Art Museum \u2026 any of those sound good?\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

\u201cHmm\u2026 They all sound absolutely lovely. We could start with the zoo, I guess. I haven\u2019t been to one in so long. And face it, there\u2019s something for everyone there,\u201d he commented. It was true. Zoos were great for anyone; whether you wanted to see shows, just watch the animals be lazy, visit reptile houses and\/or aquariums, or just eat the food, zoos were good.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

\u201cThen that\u2019s settled!\u201d She beamed at him. \u201cShall I just wait for you to call? Phones do still work pretty much the same way,\u201d Summer teased, before deliberately stuffing the last of her danish in her mouth and making a chipmunk face. \u201cFair warning, though, my sanity is questionable at the best of times.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

\u201cI know how phones work\u2026 Well, most of them.\u201d Steve rolled his eyes, and smiled at how cute she looked when her cheeks were puffed like that. \u201cSounds like a plan, Alvin,\u201d he teased. \u201cIt\u2019s fine. I\u2019m not picky about the sanity of my friends.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

“Good!” From a pocket inside her suit, Summer pulled a rather bent card, holding it out to Steve. “Here’s my number. Don’t wait too long, okay? I’ve got to head off now, normal life to get back to. You know how it goes.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
