Two books, one leashed cat, a blanket and a packed up lunch later, she was sprawled on the grass in the park, the ragdoll cat perching on her back. When Helios tensed, stood up, then sprang off her back to run to the limit of his leash, she rolled over, shading her eyes against the sun, to catch Tony\u2019s awkward landing.<\/p>\n<p>For a long moment, the best she could do was stare open-mouthed.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Offering a grin that was positively gleeful, Tony waved towards Summer and the cat (\u2026he had never seen a cat on a leash before; that was weird), grin morphing to laughter as she gaped at him.\u00a0 \u201cWhat?\u201d he wondered, flapping the wings once and then folding them close to his back.\u00a0 \u201cYou got stuck with wings for god knows how long.\u00a0 This shouldn\u2019t be all that surprising,\u201d he pointed out, crossing his arms a bit awkwardly as he rolled his shoulders to get used to the added weight behind him.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cDear gods, you\u2019re beautiful.\u201d She closed her mouth with a snap, looking around for something to hold down the end of Helios\u2019 leash. Finally she looped it around her bare ankle and walked over to Tony. \u201cIt\u2019s not surprising in that sense, only because of how damn good you look like that.\u201d A mischievous thought occurred to her, and she cocked her head at him. \u201cAre they as sensitive as mine were?\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>He laughed again, wings spreading once more for her to see.\u00a0 \u201cWell, I wasn\u2019t gonna go that far, but I\u2019m glad you like them.\u201d\u00a0 He cleared his throat.\u00a0 \u201cAnd, uh, not sure.\u00a0 The wings themselves aren\u2019t.\u00a0 But I can\u2019t really check the bases, since, well\u2026\u201d\u00a0 To demonstrate, he reached one arm over his shoulder, fingers just shy of the mark.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;I&#8217;m a little biased, I&#8217;ll admit. Plus, you know, no shirt. I \/quite\/ like that.&#8221; Summer reached out to trace the upper arc of the wing, feathers slipping softly through her fingers. Circling around behind him and tugging the cat along with her, she laid a hand on his back between the two appendages, tracing the new musculature and the shape of their emergence.
