What it *is* is an admission that they\u2019ve noticed enough to respond to it \u201con company letterhead.\u201d Its face value is meaningless.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>The REAL takeaway from this is \u201cHey this is starting to hurt, stop it guys!\u201d\u00a0 If the revival efforts meant nothing, NCsoft would not post what amounts to \u201cElvis has left the building.\u201d\u00a0 And that is all that is. They want the negative attention to stop. That is an official attempt at deflection.\u00a0 Or, in political terms, an \u201cUn-Answer.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span>It appears to be a response but actually accomplishes nothing except silence those who weren\u2019t very into it.\u00a0 <strong>Like I say, what it says is irrelevant; the thing to take notice of is that it was put there at all.\u00a0 And that means time to step it up because the other fighter just staggered.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><strong>If the \u201cSave CoH\/We love Paragon\u201d etc. efforts were ineffective, we\u2019d never have seen such a statement.<\/strong> <strong>The hidden meaning of that note is that it has dawned on somebody that this is developing into \u201canti-NCsoft,\u201d not \u201cSave-CoH,\u201d so they issued a mollifying statement with a lot of buttonpushing feel-warm cozy buttons about how special what they just murdered was to them.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Now they reap the mistrust they sowed, they can see the coverage increase, the caution against them and the players taking their money away in droves, and we can look them steely in the eyes and reply \u201cToo bad.\u00a0 It\u2019s just business.\u00a0 Isn\u2019t it.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The \u201cexhausted all options\u201d is bizspeak for \u201cWe didn\u2019t get what we wanted, so we stopped bothering to find solutions.\u201d\u00a0 Businesspeople who truly WANT a result\u00a0 ALWAYS find a way, they never \u201cexhaust all options.\u201d So right there is an admission from NCsoft that they\u2019re very bad businesspeople.\u00a0 Most certainly unimaginative and inflexible.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Shortest form: As a strategist, the hits are being felt by NCsoft, and they\u2019ve barely begun.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Second message: This is the murderer issuing an official statement that they \u201creally tried hard\u201d not kill what they had a choice about murdering, and hoping that \u201cOh they loved it like I did, they\u2019re really sorry!\u201d should be your takeaway from that and that should make EVERYTHING just fine, right?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>I don\u2019t take \u201cWe loved it too!\u201d as anything but an insult to our intelligence.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>I don\u2019t have much more to add to this, but here\u2019s another example of NCsoft\u2019s practices.
