Arthur\u2019s eyes widened when they lifted off the ground. He couldn\u2019t believe he was doing this. He wasn\u2019t able to bring himself to look down. He was actually scared. Truly scared.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

\u201cRelax a little. I\u2019ve got you, I won\u2019t let you fall.\u201d Summer tried to make this smile reassuring. \u201cDo you need me to take the fear away?\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Arthur was too scared to even speak. All he could do was nod.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Compared to flying with someone, this was easy. Beyond easy. A tiny thread of calm, weaving in amongst Arthur\u2019s fear, dulling it, cooling it. She locked it up in a little box, not to be released til his feet touched ground again.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Arthur took a deep breath and felt calm. \u201cHow did you do that?\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

\u201cEmpath,\u201d she replied, checking the airspace overhead. It was clear, so she took the two of them up, and up some more, until they were hovering at the height of some of the taller skyscrapers. \u201cLook around, Arthur. Look at the glory of the world!\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

He looked around and saw that everything looked tiny. The view was breathtaking. \u201cWow. It\u2019s amazing up here.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

\u201cWant to go farther up?\u201d Summer\u2019s answering smile was full of laughter.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

\u201cSure. Why not.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

No slow, easy ascent this time; she tapped the emotion she’d locked away from Arthur and fairly blasted them upwards, motion-generated breeze stripping her hair back from her face. Far above the city she halted, spinning slowly in the cooler air at that height.<\/p>\n
