\u201cHi, Jarvis!\u201d Summer waved haphazardly at the ceiling. \u201cPlease don\u2019t call me \u2018miss,\u2019 it makes me feel like I should still be sixteen and virginal. First name is fine.\u201d She unslung her backpack as she stepped into the elevator, letting it rest at her feet while she examined the details of everything.<\/p>\n

\u201cI know I\u2019m sounding like an idiot fangirl here, but I can\u2019t even express how amazing this all is.\u201d The close confines of the elevator, she hoped, wouldn\u2019t last long, because she could already feel the empathic side-effects kicking in. \u2018Thank gods for shields and iron control<\/em>,\u2019 she thought.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

There was a beat of silence, and then Tony supplied, \u201cSummer Rainault, Jarvis. \u00a0He can\u2019t hear things said outside the building too well.\u201d \u00a0The last he directed at Summer. \u00a0\u201dAnd I wouldn\u2019t say you sound like an idiot<\/em> fangirl.\u201d \u00a0More like just an average fangirl, really. \u00a0He\u2019d met enough fangirls to tell the difference.<\/p>\n

It wasn\u2019t the shortest elevator ride in history, but then it was a fairly large tower, and guest quarters were just a few floors down from the top. \u00a0But it also wasn\u2019t terribly long. \u00a0When the elevator dinged open, Tony stepped out and gestured down the hall to the guest suites. \u00a0\u201dTake your pick.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

For simplicity\u2019s sake, Summer picked the first door she came to, pushed the door open with a gentle kick, and dropped her backpack just inside. Then she stretched hugely, with a crackle of unwinding sinews, and turned back to Tony. \u201cNow what?\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Arms crossed and leaning back against the wall beside the elevator, Tony replied, \u201cPretty sure that\u2019s your call. \u00a0You were the lotto winner, were you not?\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

She gave him a very flat look. “All right. In for a penny, in for a pound. Just … wait there for a minute.” She went inside her room, and shut the door. Approximately a minute later, she came back out, looking exactly the same, and grinned at Tony.<\/p>\n
