Summer walked into the pastry shop, clicked her phone shut, and dropped into a seat with a sigh. The place smelled amazing, that was certain, and the glorious scent of fresh baked goods helped her shoulders relax.<\/p>\n

Most people thought being a superhero was a wonderful thing. It really wasn\u2019t, all the time. They weren\u2019t finding bodies, anymore, but there was debris everywhere yet, and the memories would be painful for a long time. Hopefully, she thought, reconnecting with Jane and hearing all her good news would help some of that. Revelling in someone else\u2019s happiness was always nice.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Jane was a bit late to meet Summer, but not on purpose; she\u2019d lost track of time, like she frequently did unless she set an alarm for herself. She wasn\u2019t horrendously late, though, so she wasn\u2019t running when she came inside.<\/p>\n

Summer was easy to spot, at least, and Jane smiled. She hadn\u2019t seen her in so long, and they were both definitely very different people from when they\u2019d last seen each other. Summer was a super hero, or something like that, and Jane was an astrophysicist working for S.H.I.E.L.D. It was crazy.<\/p>\n

She made her way over to where Summer was sitting, smiling brightly. \u201cHey!\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

“Oh my god! Jane!” Summer leaped up out of her chair, yanking Jane into a hug. Then she held the other woman off at arm’s length for a second, looking her over. “You look good. Happy.” Her grin was blinding. “It is so good to see you again!”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
