She had no words. Shock stopped her tongue, her everything. She\u2019d always known her family wasn\u2019t her birth family \u2014 they\u2019d told her so, she didn\u2019t look like them. But lots of families in the village took in orphaned children; it wasn\u2019t strange. But now there was this person saying, I know your birth family and you are much more than you believed you were.<\/p>\n

It couldn\u2019t be true.<\/p>\n

Derek was responding to Isaac. \u201cA Kentish knight was there when you fought Sir Kit.\u201d He glanced at Summer again. \u201cYou apparently have a twin. That\u2019s how he recognised you.<\/p>\n

“Your family wants you to come home.”<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

“No.”\u00a0<\/p>\n

He couldn\u2019t believe it, he didn\u2019t want to believe it — someone was trying to take Summer away from him, that\u2019s all that he could think about. He finally had someone to love, someone who loved him back, and fate had intervened and struck a cruel hand, trying to pluck her from his life.<\/p>\n

“Where is this so-called twin? I think this is a trick.”<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

“The messenger came ahead. The whole Kentish royal family is on their way.”<\/p>\n

Summer just turned into Isaac, fisting her hands in his shirt, hiding. She didn’t know how to feel. Her\u00a0family<\/em> — but maybe not really. They would want to separate her from Isaac. But a\u00a0family<\/em>. People who wanted her. More<\/em> people who wanted her.<\/p>\n
