“Oh, no, no, that wouldn\u2019t be a good idea at all \u2014 he already doesn\u2019t approve of me.” She stopped dead in the doorway, breathing in, and closed her eyes. “Ohhhh. You must keep him. This is \u2014 this is amazing.” There was more food there than she had seen at one time outside of harvest feasts or other celebrations.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

“I don\u2019t care what he thinks — it should be my decision, and yours, as to whether or not you stay here,” Isaac stated defiantly, before his expression softened as he watched her. “As I said\u2026he keeps trying to fatten me up — apparently I\u2019m too scrawny for a Knight. But even I need help eating all of this, Summer.”<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The sheer offhandedness of his remark made her giggle, and she tugged him into the room and helped him eat it. They didn’t quite clear the table, but it was close, and she revelled in that pleasant feeling of having eaten slightly too much. It was probably different for him, since he was both more used to eating that much, and his body required more fuel than hers.<\/p>\n
