“It’s if someone else touches them. Half the time I can’t even … there’s this whole entirely new set of muscles and if I twitch wrong or something, here’s this whole piece of my body doing something strange. But basically, I can’t be hugged by people anymore, I can’t … my clothes don’t fit right — bloody hell, I’m whining about it.” She hung her head. “I am sorry. You don’t deserve to have to hear all about my problems.”
Lex frowned. Why was everything so fucked up for everyone lately? “Oh, shh, don’t worry, Summer. Seems like we’re both in a pretty shitty situation right now.” she said. “I’m sorry. I’d love to help you, but I’m pretty powerless right now.” And that was meant literally. “Let it all out if you want, talk to me…” she added quite awkwardly. Lex wasn’t usually the one to comfort people, but well, she was going to try at least.
Lex’s emotions made Summer laugh a little. “Shouldn’t it be the other way ‘round? My problem will pass, they always do. But neither of us really wants help or thinks she can be helped.” Offering her hand, she added, “Thank you. Just that someone even tries to care helps a lot.”
