Summer pulled away and rummaged through the first aid kit. “No, I want you talking while I do this, so I can tell if you’re sliding away from me or not. I’m not exactly trained in this, you know. Show me, and start telling.” Alcohol wipe, gauze pad, ace bandage …

Her eye twitched slightly, ”I don’t know I should be worried about a bullet wound or your nursing skills,” She muttered taking a drink and shaking slightly, ”What is there really to tell, I was an orphan who became a stripper, who became a mercenary who now has a little sister who is terrifying her because she is gonna stitch me up,” She said giving Summer a bored expression.

“I’m not stupid, you know. There’s a lot buried under there.” She flicked Adeva’s nose. “And I’m older than you, so quit with the little sister bit, chiya. Ease up, I can hear your heart screaming in panic. You’re going to make this harder.” Gritting her teeth and trying not to gag too much, she poked at the wound. “Is the bullet still in there? Because if it is, I’m gonna need some help.”

She rolled her eye, ”Mentally I’m older ass,” She said shifting slightly to look at her ribs, ”This is why I normally do this by myself,” She muttered pouring the alcohol on her finger before jamming it in her ribs, biting her lip to keep back the scream. Finally hooking it with her nail she pulled it out and dropped it in the sink, ”Mother fucker.” She said as she started bleeding more.

Lighting a cigarette and putting it in her mouth she inhaled, ”Just stitch me up and we will talk.”

“I ought to just crack you over the head. Mentally older, my blue and purple ass. You go rummaging about in people’s emotions and see how old you get.” Summer muttered, shoving the gauze pad against the hole as fast as she could. “I had tweezers, you know,” she added, a little more loudly.

“Hold that.” turning back to the kit, she dug a little more, until she came up with the needle and sutures. “And be grateful I know how to sew.” Without waiting for any kind of response, she deepened the painblock and started pulling the skin back together.
