“Wh—oh.” She’d let herself get distracted by the shinies from habit. Half a minute had her buckled in securely, before they’d even made it out of the parking lot. “Hold on tight, he says. Victor, darlin’, I drive a souped-up honda. Your pretty thing is not going to wow me. Not in uptown Manhattan, anyway. Now, maybe if we took a weekend up in the catskills or the hamptons, where you can let her out … ” She grinned at him.

Victor grinned back at her and shrugged. “I’ll have to take you out in her sometime then. She’s got this beautiful purr once you let her out.” His tone was almost wistful. He put the car in drive and headed off towards his house. The ride was fairly smooth, taking into account the many potholes that peppered the streets. They were at his house in a little under 15 minutes; he pulled up the driveway and parked the car. Before Summer had the time to get out Victor darted to the passenger side and opened the door for her.

Then he walked up the steps and opened the door to his house, which he had had a little more time to personalize. “Coming love?”

“The gallantry is cute, darlin’,” Summer laughed as she climbed out. She huddled by the door until he’d opened the house, then ran inside, shivering a little. She had to stop just inside the door, though, and fumble for the light switch. When the light came up she gazed around, a slow smile uncurling across her face. “Victor, this is really nice. Must better than last time.”
