*looks up from the book he’s reading and smiles* Hey, Summer. What’s going on?
“I was just talking to — to someone I fancied, I know he’s not interested, but I was just talking, and when I walked away I overheard something — anyway, it’s probably nothing. I just — it sounded like they were talking about me.”
*puts the book on the side* What did he say?
“It doesn’t matter, really … just something about how stupid someone was, and couldn’t they see that they weren’t going to get what they wanted, and how painful it was to watch that kind of thing. It wasn’t — I mean, the person I was talking to didn’t say it, it was someone else, someone I know they’re friends with — it doesn’t matter, Merlin.”
Summer, if it hurt you, then it matters. That was incredibly disrespectful, and you shouldn’t have to stand for it, even if they didn’t think you could hear it. Do you know who said it?
“It wasn’t — ” She flushed. “I don’t know the person who said it, I just know it was someone … I think he’s a knight.”
