“Why are you burning up, then?” Summer puts her hand to his forehead, frowning. “No, you are not going to put that on and train. I forbid it. You get back in that bed, and I am sending for Gaius. Sit down, or I will sit on you.”

“Don’t make that noise at me.” She comes to the side of the bed and smooths his curls back, checking his fever again. “How you could possibly think you were fit for training today … “

       He huffs again, purely to annoy her because he couldn’t think of anything else to do. “Maybe if I train I’ll feel better.”

“Maybe if you train you will pass out. Or throw up. Or take a blow to the head you otherwise would have blocked. You would not let /me/, if our places were changed.” Finding a pitcher of water, she dips a spare shirt in it and wrings it out. “One day, until Gaius has seen you, will not hurt you.” She places the damp cloth on his forehead.
