Summer inspected one arm, lazily holding it up in the air in front of her face. “You, sir, are lucky I work from home,” she informed Vex, admiring a particularly vivid mark on the inside of her elbow. She wriggled just a tiny bit closer, glad of his heat. “I’m not sure I’m going to be able to walk straight, at that.”
Vex chuckled at the woman’s words, the sound breathy and happy as it left his throat. It was moments like this that he really found peace, which wasn’t nearly as common as it should have been. He bent his head slightly to kiss her on the cheek as he told her, “Well, you can lay ‘ere as long as you like.” He could still hear the music from the Halloween party downstairs, but he didn’t mind that he was missing it in the slightest.
She made a little purr sound, tipping her head back and closing her eyes. “I might just go to sleep … you’re exhausting, darling. In the best kind of way.” A beat of silence, and then, “Still owe me that explanation. ‘M I likely to find myself inexplicably craving leather?” It was the silliest thing she could come up with.
