The night and rain found Victor staggering up the pathway towards her house. He had no idea how she would react to seeing him, if she had company, or if she was even home at all. Hell, would she want to see him? His black leather jacket covered up a spot where he had been shot and the blood had soaked a spot through his t shirt. He’d healed rather quickly but it still hurt. He hadn’t seen his reflection recently but he’d reckon he looked rather sickly. Victor sighed to himself and leaned against the door frame for a moment, taking time to brace himself, then he raised his hand and knocked on the door.
It was a dark and stormy night. That was the cliche, wasn’t it? Horror, romance, they both began the same way, a knock on the door on a dark and stormy night. Summer didn’t bother to sense the person on the other side of the door; whomever it was, they were going to get a faceful of grumpy gamer. Abandoning her headset and hoping she didn’t come back to a dead character (that would be even more annoying), she pulled her cloak tighter around her waist and stomped over the door.
She froze when she jerked it open. Half a dozen phrases, mostly swear words, crowded to her lips, but the only thing that made it out was, “You.”
Six months. Six months since the vampire she’d accidentally fallen in love with had vanished without a trace in the forest of upstate New York. And now, /now/ he was just going to stand on her doorstep, casually dripping?!
“Y-you, you — ” Summer spluttered, grabbed his coat collar, and wrenched him through the door.
