“This should be interesting. Hi there.”
“I wasn’t bargaining for /anything/. Dear gods.” She rubbed at her face for a minute. “Okay, fine. You want to be my bodyguard?”
“Sure. Why do you need a bodyguard exactly?”
Summer opened her mouth to answer, then closed it. “That’s … not a conversation we should have out here,” she said instead. “Get in the car and I’ll tell you on the way.”
Isaac shrugged it off and climbed in the car, closing the door gently behind him and looking at her once again. “Alright. Talk.”
She dropped into the driver’s seat, staring at the steering wheel. “There’s someone hunting me. I don’t know who it is. I’m not sure why, either, but I have some ideas.” Starting the car, she put it into reverse, looking Isaac hard in the face before backing out. “Also, my ex is blackmailing me, and trying very hard to control my life.”
Her hands tightened on the wheel. “And I think the hunter is trying to use spellwork on me.”
There was no way he was going to believe her.
