“This should be interesting. Hi there.”
She dropped into the driver’s seat, staring at the steering wheel. “There’s someone hunting me. I don’t know who it is. I’m not sure why, either, but I have some ideas.” Starting the car, she put it into reverse, looking Isaac hard in the face before backing out. “Also, my ex is blackmailing me, and trying very hard to control my life.”
Her hands tightened on the wheel. “And I think the hunter is trying to use spellwork on me.”
There was no way he was going to believe her.
Isaac just stared at her for a while before shrugging. “Good enough for me. I’m a werewolf,” he said matter of factly. “So what exactly is it that you’re asking me to do?” he asked.
“You’re a what?” The car jerked. Hastily she wrestled it back under control. “Is that something you should be saying to just anyone? I could be lying my face off for all you know!”
Fuck it. They were going to her apartment, because this conversation was going to take a long time.
Isaac raised an eyebrow. “i picked up your car,” he pointed out, blinking a couple of times. “And I’m kind of stuck with you.”
“So you’re saying it’s okay for people to know because you can just pick up their cars?!” She wanted to bang her head on the steering wheel. “Nrrrrgh, doesn’t matter. Fine. Cards on the table — I’m an empath. I think that’s why the hunter wants me. I don’t know what he wants me /for/, though.”
