“How could I ever love anybody like you?”

“Anybody like me? Oh, you mean psychopathic vampire who doesn’t give a damn about human life?” he asked, smirking. “Well the good news is that you don’t have to love me.”

Naked and wanting under a gorgeous, dark vampire unconvinced of his humanity — not exactly the safest place to be. “Damon.” It was supposed to be a command, but it came out on a pleading sigh. She reached up and twined her arms around his neck, deliberately going soft and yielding. “Come on.”

Damon pushed into her, moaning a little and kissing her neck as he started to pick up a rhythm. He did his best to remind himself that his partner did not have supernatural healing abilities, though once he was inside her he was thrusting a little too quickly and maybe a little too hard.

It felt like being slammed into by — well, she didn’t have an adequate metaphor. But she’d basically taunted him into this, and it wasn’t unpleasant. Summer tipped her face down and caught at his mouth, though, not wanting him anywhere near her throat. He could easily bite her anywhere, but the neck-nuzzling just made her feel very, very vulnerable.
