I need a beach thread. With several people, I think.
A day trip, with the packing of the car and yelling back and forth about sunscreen and towels and flipflops and snacks. Everyone crammed into a space that is now slightly too small, because of all the stuff, and someone insisted on bringing a blowup raft that keeps unfolding even when flat. Piling out in a mad giggling mass and staking out a section of beach, and sneaking surreptitious glances at each other while taking off top clothing to reveal swimsuits. Shrieking about the temperature of the water and the little waves grabbing at toes and omg is that seaweed or a jellyfish. Pushing each other into and through the waves and being tumbled under the water. Body surfing and raft surfing and actual surfing and building a sand castle with a moat because what is a sand castle without a moat? Coaxing reluctant people into the water. A couple maybe breaking off to walk down the beach for a little hand in hand. Building a driftwood fire when it gets dark, until someone has to be a little responsible and chivvy everyone back to the car to go home, sleepy and sated.
