“Watch Mythbusters, eat finger foods, drink hot chocolate, and lounge around with my new toys,” she reeled off. One hand crept up to finger the charms on her new necklace. “It’s not very exciting. What about you?”
“Maybe you can find some room to let me squeeze in and invade your holidays?” he suggested and watched her with a tender smile, then he averted his eyes as he hunched down with embarrassment. “I…well, I’ve not celebrated Christmas in…years. There just didn’t seem much point until now…”
There didn’t seem to be much to say to that. After a moment, determined to recapture the mood, she said brightly, “Hard to invade where you’ve been invited. Mom will be disappointed if you don’t come to dinner, anyway.”
