Derek was a little startled at the sudden hug and rush of emotion, though he caught her and tentatively patted her back soothingly, still a tad bit stunned at the force of her gratitude but glad he could help and make someone feel so thankful.
The words should mean something, but every time she grasped for the meaning she came up short. Summer gave Derek a quizzical look and tumbled her hands one over the other.
Derek didn’t know which part had stumped Summer so he just went on to explain what a kitsune and banshee were, explaining a bit more about the girls, and Isaac did his part to sit and look amused. He finished off with a little grin and “Any questions?”
She had so many questions, but the only one she could get into words was ‘I thought this was a wolf pack’. How many other kinds of … people were there? Buried memories had suggested she was alone, one of a kind, but that didn’t seem to be true. Were there more like /her/? Had she had a family like herself once?
A huge yawn interrupted her ruminations before they could carry her too far.
