She pushed the hood back again to stare at him, embarrassment tinting her cheeks. Then she flung herself at him in a huge hug, radiating gratitude overwhelmingly.

Derek was  a little startled at the sudden hug and rush of emotion, though he caught her and tentatively patted her back soothingly, still a tad bit stunned at the force of her gratitude but glad he could help and make someone feel so thankful.

She had so many questions, but the only one she could get into words was ‘I thought this was a wolf pack’. How many other kinds of … people were there? Buried memories had suggested she was alone, one of a kind, but that didn’t seem to be true. Were there more like /her/? Had she had a family like herself once?

A huge yawn interrupted her ruminations before they could carry her too far.

“It’s a pack, but I didn’t say a strictly wolf pack. There are wolves yes, but there’s also a banshee, a kitsune, a human, and I’m sure a few others. We used to have a kanima but he’s just a werewolf now.”

He chuckled at the yawn and stood, Isaac standing as well. “Alright, enough excitement for today. It looks like it’s time for bed.”

She wanted to ask more, to know more, but she couldn’t stop yawning, either. She stumbled after them, trying to swallow a spate of yawns, up the stairs to Derek’s bedroom. There she paused, wondering how things would work out.
