“I’ll make an effort to walk louder then. Maybe I should get a bell, what do you think?” Summer grinned, teasingly, touching her throat. “I’m not really much of a collar type, though. Is everything okay?” Her smile softened. “You look like a new student. What’s your name?”
Max chuckled weakly, knowing that, at this school, a collar probably wouldn’t be that surprising to see. Oh god, what had she gotten herself into? ”I’m fine, yeah. Just a bit jumpy, I guess.” She shrugged, hands stuffed into her pockets. ”Yeah, I am. I’m Max. Uh, Max Parker.”
“Well, Max, I’m Ms Rainault. Do you want to talk about what’s bothering you? We can go to my office and you can sit down, relax a little.” She put a hand on Max’s shoulder. “It’s not unusual to be nervous in a new place.”
