Summer jumped forward and caught the girl by the shoulders, keeping her from hitting the floor. “Hey, woah, be careful there. You okay? You seem a little nervy.”
Her heart was still pounding wildly in her chest, but at least she hadn’t wound up flat on her back. Once she had her balance back, she pushed her hair out of her face, cheeks tinged pink with her embarrassment. ”Thanks. Yeah, no, I’m fine. Just didn’t hear you. Haven’t really been sleeping well, so I guess that kind of adds to it. I’m good though.”
“I’ll make an effort to walk louder then. Maybe I should get a bell, what do you think?” Summer grinned, teasingly, touching her throat. “I’m not really much of a collar type, though. Is everything okay?” Her smile softened. “You look like a new student. What’s your name?”
