Derek was a little startled at the sudden hug and rush of emotion, though he caught her and tentatively patted her back soothingly, still a tad bit stunned at the force of her gratitude but glad he could help and make someone feel so thankful.
She eyed the spot on the couch, and stayed put. ‘in my mind.’ She tapped at her temple for emphasis, and added, ‘you are both a little jagged inside, and wild. how can we both stay? you only have one bed’
Derek read the paper and showed Isaac as well, who just raised an eyebrow. He patted his knee and handed the paper back to Summer. “Well, Isaac will sleep in the bed with me, as he usually does. It’s a pack thing. You may sleep in the bed as well, it’s a big bed, or you may sleep on the couch. If you choose the couch, I’ll make it up for you so it will be just as comfortable as a bed. It’s whatever you’re going to be most comfortable with.”
She tilted her head at them both, and frowned slightly, sliding her gaze away. They shared a bed? With the use of the word ‘pack’, she imagined it as a pile of puppies. That might not be so bad. ‘Is there more pack?’ she wrote. ‘Maybe there won’t be room for me.’
And if he had this whole pack to care for, what was he doing wasting time on her? She turned her gaze back to Isaac, crawling around Derek’s feet to look up at the younger werewolf more closely. She wanted to stay with Derek. Perhaps, if she won others over, she could do that.
