Summer declared, “I try. Can’t you see my halo?” She pointed above her head, cocking her head side to side. “Everyone always wants to assume the worst of me. Mrrrr.”
“Yeah, your horns are holding up your halo darling.” Victor snorted before patting her reassuringly on her arm. “I don’t think those are your worst qualities dear, I think they’re some of your more endearing qualities.”
“Ack! Horns? What horns? I’m a perfect little angel!” She groped around on top of her head, giggling.
Victor ruffled her hair a bit, teasingly. “My perfect little angel,” he paused for a moment to kiss her jaw, “is also my perfect little devil,” he said as he kissed her again. Experimentally, he ran his fangs over her skin, scraping lightly, just to see what kind of response he’d get.
“I thought we were watching a movie, Victor darling,” she said lazily, tipping her head to the side for him. A frisson ran up her spine. “Are you trying to distract me?”
“Mmmmm, we still are love,” he whispered, noting her reaction, running his fangs along her neck one more time before soothing the skin with his tongue. ” ‘M not trying to distract you, Summer, I just can’t help it. I like being near you, and I doubly like teasing you.”
“Shouldn’t play with your food,” she teased, more muscles relaxing under his caresses. There was something, as she’d noticed before, that was simply soothing about the way Victor was with her — everything seemed to fit together perfectly.
