Summer said slowly, “He knew I was coming … I’m a little early.” She wasn’t sure about the way he was looking at her, or the way he brushed off his remark with ‘lucky guess’. “My name is Summer. Um — lucky guess? I don’t understand.”
“It’s better if I don’t explain.” Isaac leaned against the doorway with a smirk. “So Scott’s helping you with your cat? Like at the clinic?”
“No, Scott’s helping me with my cat here. I can’t make it to the clinic, with cat, during working hours, for a couple days, and this needs two people and doing now.”
Apparently he thought being mysterious was cute or something. It would concern her less if he hadn’t totally randomly hit on something she’d been thinking about for over a year. ‘Obviously not human.’ What did that even /mean/?
