Derek was a little startled at the sudden hug and rush of emotion, though he caught her and tentatively patted her back soothingly, still a tad bit stunned at the force of her gratitude but glad he could help and make someone feel so thankful.
After giving him a brief look indicating she saw right through his ploy, she clasped her hands together. Once again the most transparently innocent, pleading, sweet expression came over her face. She even batted her eyelashes.
Derek couldn’t help but give a little laugh at her ‘pleading’ expression. “Even silent there’s just attitude radiating off of you,” he said with a roll of his eyes. “Alright, the girls I’m referring to are Kira and Lydia. Kira is a kitsune, very sweet, very helpful. Lydia, banshee, very fashionable, extremely intelligent.”
The words should mean something, but every time she grasped for the meaning she came up short. Summer gave Derek a quizzical look and tumbled her hands one over the other.
