Mordred grunts, his eyes fluttering open after a few seconds and he smiles. “Good morning” he mutters, moving into a sitting position “you didn’t have to.”
She can’t contain the spluttered laughter. “Why in the world would he think that?”
”Just a thought.”
Following him out into the corridor, Summer lifts a brow at him, eyes dancing with mischief. “Do you normally bullshit the king?”
Mordred grunts, his eyes fluttering open after a few seconds and he smiles. “Good morning” he mutters, moving into a sitting position “you didn’t have to.”
Summer takes his hand, nerves spiking. She swallows down sudden nausea. “Why is that?”
”So Arthur will actually know I am not bullshitting.”
She can’t contain the spluttered laughter. “Why in the world would he think that?”
Mordred grunts, his eyes fluttering open after a few seconds and he smiles. “Good morning” he mutters, moving into a sitting position “you didn’t have to.”
She hesitates, then, “Can I go with you?” Maybe it is time she stops trying to pretend there’s no one but her and him in the castle at Camelot.
Or maybe it’s just her worry, pushing her to make sure there’s somewhere to come /back/ to.
”Of course, it would be better if you were there.”
Summer takes his hand, nerves spiking. She swallows down sudden nausea. “Why is that?”
Mordred grunts, his eyes fluttering open after a few seconds and he smiles. “Good morning” he mutters, moving into a sitting position “you didn’t have to.”
She turns around, pulling his head down for a kiss. “Much too good to me.”
He smiles, pulling away and kissing her cheek. “I’ll go talk to Arthur.”
She hesitates, then, “Can I go with you?” Maybe it is time she stops trying to pretend there’s no one but her and him in the castle at Camelot.
Or maybe it’s just her worry, pushing her to make sure there’s somewhere to come /back/ to.
Mordred grunts, his eyes fluttering open after a few seconds and he smiles. “Good morning” he mutters, moving into a sitting position “you didn’t have to.”
Summer leans back into his arms, relaxing a little. “I don’t mean to put my problems on you.”
Mordred leans down and kisses her shoulder. “It’s fine, darling, I understand.”
She turns around, pulling his head down for a kiss. “Much too good to me.”
Mordred grunts, his eyes fluttering open after a few seconds and he smiles. “Good morning” he mutters, moving into a sitting position “you didn’t have to.”
She pushes her hair out of her face, chewing on her lip. “I think — I think it’s my twin,” she says, quietly. “I think maybe I shouldn’t wait very long. I’m sorry. She lapses into the language of her homeland. “Rwy’n flin, mae hyn yn mynd i fod ofnadwy.”
Mordred grunts, his eyes fluttering open after a few seconds and he smiles. “Good morning” he mutters, moving into a sitting position “you didn’t have to.”
“I know you didn’t say that.” Summer’s frustrated. She’d thought maybe if she didn’t think about it, distracted herself taking care of Mordred — and that wasn’t working. “Something isn’t right, and I don’t know what it is.”
“Then we should indeed go.”
“I — I don’t. But I think maybe I should. I have this feeling … I can’t shake it. It’s fine. Don’t worry about it.”
Mordred rose from the bed, walking over to the window and standing beside her. “I didn’t say I wouldn’t,” he tells her “I just don’t want to put you in a position of compromise.”
“I know you didn’t say that.” Summer’s frustrated. She’d thought maybe if she didn’t think about it, distracted herself taking care of Mordred — and that wasn’t working. “Something isn’t right, and I don’t know what it is.”
Mordred grunts, his eyes fluttering open after a few seconds and he smiles. “Good morning” he mutters, moving into a sitting position “you didn’t have to.”
Summer gets up and wanders to the window. “Do you think,” she says, not looking at him at all, “you could get leave to escort me home?”
The knight twirls the grape around in his fingers, glancing up at her. “I can, but- I thought you said you didn’t want to go home.”
“I — I don’t. But I think maybe I should. I have this feeling … I can’t shake it. It’s fine. Don’t worry about it.”
Mordred grunts, his eyes fluttering open after a few seconds and he smiles. “Good morning” he mutters, moving into a sitting position “you didn’t have to.”
“My point precisely. What’s to do today?” She tosses a grape at him.
”Patrolling, training, the usual.”
Summer gets up and wanders to the window. “Do you think,” she says, not looking at him at all, “you could get leave to escort me home?”
