She waggled her eyebrows at him. “Okay, okay. What’s the plan for tomorrow?” Keeping one eye on him, she ate some more.

He smirked then took another bite of his food. “Well, odds are we’ll have to get him while he’s hunting, which’ll unfortunately be at night when he and coincidentally, myself, will be strongest. If he’s hunting, he’ll be focused on the hunt and not on being hunted, y’know? So, I’m thinking we spend the day tracking where he’s been in the surrounding area?”

Summer shrugged. “I might be able to get a line on his mind and track him that way. I’m not sure it’s a good idea to hit him at night, though. Wouldn’t it be easier just to find his home?”

“We could, it won’t be the usual sort of home since he’s not planning on staying here permanently, but there will be something of a nest of sorts. That’s a good idea, and that way we won’t have to go during the night when he’d be strongest.”

She looked down, tapping the chopsticks on the edge of the box. “Victor … do vampires burn? Is that a true part of the mythology?”

She whacked him on the knuckles with the chopsticks. “I said thank you, that kinda means I like it.” She put a piece of chicken in her mouth and made the “too hot” face, eyes watering. Opening her mouth wide, she fanned, sucking air in through the sides. When she finally recovered, she wiped at her eyes and asked, “Did you get anything for yourself?”

Victor gave her a look of mock hurt before smiling. “I’m glad you like it, darling.” His eyes grew wide at her reaction to the food, scared for a moment that she might be choking but relieved when she recovered. “You all right? An’ what do you mean? T’ wear? Uh, no, I didn’t…I figured I’d be alright in my boxer briefs. I was more thinkin’ of you being comfortable.”

Victor had been gone longer than she expected. But this was one of those times when having an ereader and keeping it stocked was the best thing ever — she just curled up, wrapped in a towel, and started a new book. So when he finally /did/ get back, the knock on the door nearly startled her back out of the chair. Why didn’t he let himself in? He had the key.

Summer untangled herself from the chair and the towel, wrapping it back around and calling, “Just a minute!” Maybe it was something else. Combat in a towel. Yeah, great. But no, the peephole proved it was Victor, and she opened the door, raising her eyebrows at him. “What took you so long?”

Victor gave her a big smile and shuffled inside the room. Awkwardly, he handed her the bag he’d gotten from the clothes store. “Hope you enjoyed your shower love, an’ I’m sorry it took so long, I couldn’t decide but eventually I did.” He gestured to the bag that was now in her hands with his head and then continued on to the small table in the room to set down their food. “I found a Chinese place an’ got you some sweet an’ sour, like you asked, darling,” Victor turned to her and smirked. “Well? Aren’t you gonna see what I got you?”

Mildly, she asked, “What did you buy?” It was an absurd question; she held the bag. Basic plastic, with the slight weight of clothing pooled in the bottom. Even before she lifted it out, she was sighing, half-pleased, half-bemused, “Oh, Victor.” Then the red fabric unfolded from her grip, and she just blinked.

Blink turned into pleased laughter. “Took me seriously, did you? Thank you very much, Victor darling.” She wasted no time putting it on, letting the towel uncoil from her body while she tugged the red silk over her head, shaking a little to get it settled. Without pausing for admiration, she began to scrabble around in the bag of food, muttering “Chopsticks, chopsticks.”

“Well I didn’t know what else you’d like so I played it safe.” He sat down and handed her a pair of chopsticks before picking up some for himself as well. Victor took a moment to admire her in the outfit even if she was too hungry to do so herself at the moment. The nightgown really did look marvelous on her. He couldn’t help the small smirk that tugged at his lips while he began working on his broccoli and beef. “Do you like the nightgown? It fits alright?” Victor asked more out of courtesy than anything else, seeing that it fit her well but wanting to make sure she liked it.

“I expect there’s a chinese takeout somewhere around here. I’m really craving sweet and sour right now.” She blew out a sigh, rolling her shoulders and rubbing at them with one hand. “I’m going to get a shower while you do that, okay?”

“Alright,” Victor said as he grabbed his leather coat, “enjoy your shower, love.” He leaned in and gave her a quick peck on the corner of her mouth before patting himself, checking for his wallet, and heading out the door. First, he wanted to look for something for Summer to wear. There was a small clothing store on his left and he decided to duck into it and see what was all inside. Quickly, and quietly, Victor made his way to the undergarments and lingerie department. Internally, he shook his head at some of the pieces, one of them being what looked like a few scraps of lace held together by a couple of pieces of string. He preferred items like the one Summer had worn one night. Just as he was beginning to suspect that he’d have to look somewhere else he found the perfect item. It was a simple red with black accents, it looked comfortable as well, but there was something distinctly sexy about it.

Without any further hesitation Victor bought the nightgown and headed for the Chinese take out place he could smell down the road.

Once he got to the restaurant he ordered Summer’s sweet and sour chicken and broccoli and beef for himself. After he had their food he made his way back to their room. Due to the fact that his hands were full he opted to ‘knock’ on the door with his shoulder, hoping Summer was somewhere she could hear him.

“It’s a hotel room,” she shrugged. “I just figured walls would muffle your moaning better.” Deftly, she unbuckled her cuirasse, dropping it on the floor and stretching out her arms, then going to work on the rest of the armour pieces. “You know I didn’t bring any clothes or anything, right?”

Victor chuckled heartily, “Oh yeah? An’ what of your moaning eh, love?” His smile lit up his face as he made his way over to the bed and flopped down on it, arching his back to help him take off his shirt. “An’ you think I mind tha’ you don’t have anything else? Come t’ think about it, neither did I, so we’ll just have t’ keep each company now won’t we?”

“Victor, darling,” she laughed, “are you suggesting we play nudist in here? I’m not entirely opposed to the idea, mind, but I’d really rather have something else to wear.” She raised her brows pointedly at him. “And there’s the question of food, as well.”

“Of course, how about this, you try an’ get comfortable here an’ I’ll head out an’ get us some food, as well as something you’ll be a little comfortable in, yeah?” There was a gleam in his eyes as his mind wandered off towards something he could buy her. “Anything tha’s tickling your fancy t’ eat come t’ mind?”

“There’s no point in camping out. We might as well have a comfortable bed.” Summer winked slowly at Victor, arms folded as she gazed around. It was … almost eerily familiar. Small town businesses with faded signs, streetlight posts with seasonal decorations between carefully trimmed trees. The hotel was clearly a renovated old house, lovingly kept up.

It was hard to believe they were there to hunt a vampire.

Victor smiled, “Good point there.” He said as he headed towards the hotel. When they got inside he smiled to the person behind the desk, ” ‘Ello, one room, queen size bed?”

“Sure, we’ve got a few open rooms, here’s a key.” The receptionist smiled as Victor took the key and headed up the stairs. The room was the 3rd on the right, quickly, Victor put the key in the lock and opened the door, leading the way into a fairly nice hotel room. There was a queen size bed and a tv hung in a corner. The bathroom was normal sized and the shower fairly big. “Well, not bad at all I think,” Victor said as he turned to Summer.

“You’re making it up as you go along.” She followed him out, twining her hair up into a bun and loosening the straps on her cuirasse. Silently, she settled herself into the car, fingers tensing and flexing on her knees. This would be different than her usual work — probably more combat, and definitely facing an enemy she didn’t know much about. With a little luck, though, her talents would give Victor an edge and wind things up very quickly.

Victor shrugged as he sat down in the driver’s seat. “I’m only making the getting there up as I go. I have the actual battle plan in mind, I jus’ want t’ see the terrain first.”

The drive, as promised, was short and soon they were face to face with a man who seemed to be in his mid-forties. “Hey Jim,” Victor greeted the man somewhat warmly, “we need t’ catch a ride. I have the coordinates but it’s a day’s drive off an’ we need to get there quickly.” Jim chuckled and shook his head as he said his hellos and told Victor that he could actually take them out now as he was planning on going out for a ‘joy ride’.

Victor clasped Jim’s forearm and thanked him as they boarded the plane. The actual flight was fairly short, going for no more than 3 hours. Victor had Jim land at one of the smaller airports in the area and thanked him once more as they got off.

As Victor looked around he saw that the village they were in was perhaps the most populated place in the area with a population of 5000. He also noticed that a majority of the population seemed to be werewolves, they were definitely in the right place. Victor turned to Summer, “Do you want to set up camp a little ways away or get a hotel here? I want at least a day to scope the area and run over the plan together.”

Victor cocked his head in slight confusion, “What’d you mean by ‘seat-of-your-pants’? I can’t say I’ve heard that one before.” Victor patted himself down quickly, running through his mental checklist before grabbing his keys and heading to the door, making sure Summer was following him.
