The bartender raised an eyebrow at the girl as she set a box on the counter of his bar. “You’re that Summer girl, right?” he asked absently, and then nodded as he stepped away to find his employer. Several minutes later, he returned, “Vex’ll be out momentarily.”

And several moments later, the Mesmer appeared, walking over to where Summer stood at the bar. He was dressed in his finest. “‘Ello, Precious,” he greeted, “Ya called?”

Vex chuckled into the kiss, the sound fading out as it deepened.  A quiet sound of pleasure fell from his lips as his hands roamed over her back and sides, returning every ounce of passion that she gave. He could have spent the entire day like this, holding her in his arms, kissing away the hours. It was a kind of peaceful passion that they rarely indulged in, and he loved it.

It was several minutes later that Summer remembered the question he hadn’t really answered. Reluctantly breaking the kisses, she asked softly, “Coming to surprise me, huh? Did you have other plans after that?”

The Mesmer shrugged his shoulders and tugged her closer to himself, nuzzling the girl’s chest and leaving a playful bite on her shoulder. He was clearly feeling affectionate, though in a different, more innocent way than usual.  ”Not really, love. I just wanted to see you, that’s all,” he told her sincerely, shrugging again.

Her acknowledging ‘hmm’ broke into a laugh. “Your people don’t really celebrate this holiday?” That thought had been why she had come to Carpe Noctem. To find that he had planned to come to her was a lovely thing. Rather than letting him answer, she kissed him again with that thought.

“Sorry, love,” the Mesmer laughed, hugging her tightly. Her fingers running through his hair continued to calm him, adding to the perfection that this day seemed to hold. “And no, I’m not turning into a bloody feline,” he told her, nose scrunched up at the thought, “But thank you.. I think.” He laughed again, and then leaned up so that he could leave another playful kiss on her lips.

Into the kiss she murmured, “I am offended on my cats’ behalf. Bloody, indeed,” and then shifted a little to deepen the kiss. Not with any real thought of inciting more passion, but just … because. Because kissing Vex was lovely, and she wanted to kiss him deeper until he was all she could taste. She made another sound of deep contentment, shifting a little more.

Vex was glad that she hadn’t teased him this time, because in all honesty the teasing tended to make him not want to say it anymore. Still, between her light kisses and happy words, he was left feeling utterly content as his lips meshed with hers. A sense of peace washed over the Dark Fae that he usually couldn’t find, and he relaxed even more, a purr rumbling in his throat as he turned his head to nuzzle into her neck.

The nuzzling made her squeak, “Your nose is cold!” Summer giggled softly, combing fingers through his hair. “Are you turning into a cat? Do you have a secret ability?” Squirming away a little, she kissed his nose, eyes crinkled with her laughter. “You would make a very handsome cat.”

The Mesmer relaxed into the sofa as Summer melted into his arms, the slightly softer kisses warming his heart. It was a very nice change, one that he didn’t want to end any time soon, and he found a sincere smile on his lips as she pulled away. “Happy Valentine’s Day, Precious,” he agreed, returning the swift kiss and letting his hands absently rub her back. “Love you.” The words were quiet, nearly mumbled.

Ordinarily she would have teased him for those words, made much of him saying them. But not today, not just now. Instead she just gave him a smile as quiet as his words and bent to kiss him again gently. In between kisses, she whispered, “I know,” and “I love you too.” As far as she was concerned, they could spend the whole afternoon just like this. Well, maybe she could take her shoes off.

A dark chuckle was on his lips before he could stop it.  He wasn’t sure which she’d prefer, but he didn’t care, and he didn’t bother to respond. Instead, his mouth found hers, but there was a romantic edge to it that his kisses usually lacked. Not gentle, but not nearly as harsh.  Valentine’s Day did funny things to the Dark Fae’s heart, things he never had understood.

Summer kissed Vex back happily, one hand cupping his face. She rather liked this slightly softer Vex, who showed a little tenderness. Hitching a little closer, she melted against his body and made a quiet sound of pleasure before breaking away. “Well happy Valentine’s Day to you too, darling.” She punctuated it with a swift kiss.

The Dark Fae took a second to take off his jacket, which shoulder-spikes were more than a little dangerous, as he let go of the girl’s hand.  At the mention of his reputation, he had to laugh in agreement; if they knew some of the sweetened things he’d said to this girl, they’d never be afraid of him again. He blushed faintly as she moved closer to him to whisper, but a chuckle still rang out in response, “In all ‘onesty, they don’t know a bloody thing. Most know better than to ask questions.” His arms coiled around her then, and he pulled her closer to him.

It took a moment, as he tugged her close, for her to find places to put her knees, and then she was straddling him, his arms warm around her waist. “Hi,” she said, teasingly. Unconsciously, her voice fell to a sultry purr. “Are you going to do wicked things to me now, darling madman? Or did I buy your kindness with your favourite food?”

“Aren’t you sweet!” she laughed. “You really are going to ruin your reputation.” Retrieving her hand, she put them both on his shoulders so she could lean and whisper in his ear, “Or do you tell your staff terrible stories of the wicked things you do to that Summer girl so they remember what you are?”

His smile shifted to a friendly smirk as she moved over to him, chuckling lightly. “Oh stop, I could never prefer ‘em to you, Precious,” he told her, and then rolled his eyes at the Brits comment. “Some of ‘em,” he muttered, “But seriously, Summer, I’d never.” He reached out to grab her wrist so that she wasn’t knocking him on the head anymore, and then pressed a kiss to the back of her hand.

Amused, she let him, and then frowned more thoughtfully. “What are you all dressed up for then? Are there /Fae/ hookers?” It wasn’t so much a condemnation as curiosity.

Vex smiled good-naturedly at her, “Just kidding, of course.”  He pulled her up the stairs almost eagerly, glad to be with Summer today rather than alone. “And good, because so do I,” he replied, which was true; ‘precious’ felt much more natural.  He pulled open the door to his private room upstairs and let her inside, shutting the door behind them. He stuck the red velvet cake in his mini-fridge, and then took a seat on the leather sofa. “C’mere,” he said simply, casting a smile her way.

“You had better be,” she scolded. Hands on her hips, she strode across the room to stand between his knees, hipshot. “Imagine, preferring hookers when you could have called me.” She frowned down at him before reaching out and rapping him on the top of the head with a fist. “The cheek of you. That’s what you Brits say, right, cheek?”

A chuckle escaped the Mesmer’s lips as he commented, “Drunken ‘ookers are ‘ardly plans, love.” There was a pause as she laughed, and he found himself smiling, “Yes, I am, now c’mon, lets go upstairs, baby.” It wasn’t a common one, but the pet-name fell from his lips affectionately as he offered her his hand, the other moving to pick up the bakery box.

“Drunken hookers?” Summer repeated in a vaguely offended tone. “And don’t call me that, I prefer ‘precious’.” Nevertheless, she put her hand in his and let him pull her upstairs. She felt under-dressed next to him, in plain black jeans, white peasant shirt and low-heel ankle boots. Then again, they’d never matched well in looks, only contrasted.
